About My Foster Family

My Foster Family is a site where you and your household can explore your options to become accredited foster carers for local children and youth.

Brophy Family and Youth Services is the only South West agency with 24/7 local on call support. We work here, we live here, we are here for you.

Fostering is caring for a child or young person who, through no fault of their own, can not live with their parents or someone in their kinship.

Providing Foster Homes for more than 25 years

Our very first foster child was placed in safe home 25 years ago, and since then we have been able to care for more than 500 children thanks to people, such as yourself, who understood that every child needs an adult to provide them with support during their development.

There are babies, children and young people, who live in your town, which through no fault of their own, are in need of your stability, care and sense of humor to navigate this time in their life.

Our Mission

To connect our community, where we live and work, to children in need of care. To offer support, training and oppertunities to carers. To be responsive to the needs and poteniatl of each household and child in care.

Our Vision

Is to provide local children with local homes while they need Foster Care. We strive to keep siblings together and work hard to keep the child connected to their networks.

What We Offer

Brophy Family and Youth Services has been part of the South West Victorian community for almost 50 years. The organisation started in 1974 providing residential care to young people, and since then has expanded to deliver more than 35 programs right across South West Victoria – from Colac to Portland, from Hamilton to Warrnambool, and everywhere in between.

The Brophy Foster Care team has grown from the organisation’s proud history in Out of Home Care and now has over 30 staff providing 24/7 local support to young people aged 0-18 and their carers. With seamless access to Australian Childhood Foundation Therapeutic services and all other programs on offer within Brophy, we are able to provide individually tailored support to young people, and those that look after them.

Brophy was one of the first organisations in Australia to become Rainbow Tick Accredited and we follow an Advantaged Thinking framework in all of the work when do. We see the best in people and when you join our foster family, whether as a child or a carer, we are with you every step of the way to help you create new horizons.
